For single user versions, the database is on your local machine. For multi-user versions of Forté the database can be hosted by us, or on your own servers. We recommend hosting on our server for smaller organisations with limited inhouse IT resource. Self hosting is recommended for larger organisations with internal IT capability. Although the Forté server is not difficult to setup and administer, it does require a basic knowledge of server configuration, either Windows or Linux. If we host the database, backups are performed daily and a copy of your database is always available for download. We can arrange to send (encrypted) CDs or DVDs to you at pre-determined intervals so you always have a physically copy of a backup.
